VSP's Laser VisionCare doctors are specially trained to consult with you about your laser vision correction surgery and to provide your preoperative and postoperative care. In addition, both VSP's Laser VisionCare doctors and the laser centers in VSP's network meet our stringent quality standards in certification, professional ethics, equipment and facilities.
Your care before surgery
Your VSP Laser VisionCare doctor will help you decide if laser vision correction is right for you by:
- Evaluating your eyecare needs and providing a thorough eye exam
- Discussing the vision correction options available to you
- Helping you understand the benefits and risks of each option
If you decide to have laser vision correction, your VSP Laser VisionCare doctor will help you select a surgical facility and:
- Conduct your preoperative testing and evaluation
- Provide your test results, eye health history, prescription and any recommendations to the facility and surgeon
Your care after surgery
After your laser vision correction surgery, your VSP Laser VisionCare doctor will provide your follow-up care and continually monitor the health of your eyes to ensure the best postoperative results.
Non-VSP Providers
You can visit a non-VSP provider only if your group's VSP coverage allows it. If you are eligible for services from a non-VSP provider, you're required to pay the provider in full at the time of service, then submit receipts along with a request for reimbursement.
When applicable, VSP will reimburse you up to the amount allowed under your plan's out-of-network reimbursement schedule. You'll receive a lesser benefit, no discounts and typically pay more out-of-pocket. The reimbursement rate does not guarantee full payment and VSP cannot guarantee patient satisfaction when services are provided by a non-VSP provider.
