VSP Press Release

$20 Million of Support for Private Practice Doctors
Vision Loans Program Surpasses Funding Milestone

Sacramento CA, February 29, 2008 –VSP® Vision Care, the nation’s largest eyecare benefits provider, announces that its Vision Loans® program has funded more than $20 million of loans to private-practice eye doctors.

“Vision Loans directly helps doctors achieve private practice ownership, grow their business and transition it to the next generation," says VSP Incoming Board Chair James Short, O.D. “This contributes to the success of private practice eyecare and the eighteen percent increase in the number of VSP network doctors since 2003.”

The program is a joint effort by VSP and Vision One Credit Union, and private-practice eye doctors can use the funds for the purchase of their first practice, salaries for new associates, partnership buy-ins or down payments.

“Vision One understands what it takes to acquire and grow healthy private practices,” says Bob Schultz, president and CEO of Vision One Credit Union. “The beneficial terms of Vision Loans combined with our willingness to share our knowledge of financing private practices are something that banks just don’t provide.”

Vision Loans is available in forty states including the recent additions of Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, Rhode Island and Utah. The program will expand to include all fifty states and Washington, D.C. in September 2008.

Loan payments are used to fund future loans to qualified eye doctors seeking private practice ownership. Loans are subject to Vision One’s credit approval and standard documentation. Applicants who are not VSP network doctors must demonstrate qualifications to join the VSP network and submit a membership application.
