VSP Press Release
Sacramento, CA – May 15, 2006 – VSP (Vision Service Plan) announced today the renewal of its Credentialing Certification by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), an independent, non-profit organization that assesses and reports on the quality of America's health care.
VSP uses credentialing to ensure that the over 23,000 VSP network doctors provide the highest quality eyecare to their patients. As part of the credentialing process, VSP network doctors provide evidence of high standards in the areas of license certification, malpractice history and professional ethics.
"VSP is honored to be among the select companies in the United States to receive the NCQA Credentialing Certificate award," said Cheryl Johnson, VP for Health Care Services at VSP. "Our rigorous doctor certification makes certain that VSP network doctors provide the highest-quality care in the field and we are extremely pleased to receive the NCQA award for a second time."
Consumers can learn more about an organization's NCQA Certification in Credentialing status and other information on health care quality at www.ncqa.org or by calling NCQA's Customer Support (888) 275-7585.
